Should I give up on him? Its long but i need help!?

My ex and i broke up 1 1/2 years ago. It kind of was both of our decision to break up. Idk why we did. We never would fight or anything. I guess we both kind of just were confused about our feelings for eachother. Last school year, we didnt talk at all. Texted occasionally, but not often. Last summer he randomly started texing me. It was acutally a real convoersation(not like those stupid 1 word convos). When we got back to school, he ignored me, like usual. But this year, he seems more, interested. idk. I catch him staring at me. Like i saw him walk in to the cafeteria, and i turned around, when i turned back around i saw him looking at me and he quickly turned around. I can feel his eyes on me in history(he sits in the row next to me and like 1 desk back). Today he was throwing stuff around in math(to his friends to annoy them) and everytime he would hit someone that he didnt mean to, he wouldnt say anything. But one landed on my lap and he said "Oh im sorry_(my name)". Also we have been texting this year. I asked him one day why he didn't talk to me in person and he said "ummm sorry i kind of do that i guess im just shy im sorry". He is the least shy guy i know! Even around most girls! Idk should i give up on him? or should i try talking to him again?
