Why do the new uggs this year look fake?

In the past years the uggs had a thicker lining and were kind of bulky but in a cute way and their coloring was kind of different colors all over like suede. Now the new uggs are all one color especially the chestnut ones. They used to look much more worn in now they look plastic like they're made out of a synthetic material. The clic short uggs used to be thicker and now they are much smaller they hug closer to the ankle now. I'm kind of sad because I was going to get a pair but now that the new ones look so bad, I'm not going to waste my money. I feel like they went down in quality but still charge the same amount just for the label.
