Help!! Propane leak.....?

I feel so dumb. Last night I got home and smelled somthing awful in my home. I have a 11 month old and though that maybe it was her diamper bin, so I put it outside. This morning I searched everywhere, and started airing out the house. I narrowed it down to my kitchen, then the stove, and found one of the burners was not turned off all the way. I want to make sure the house is safe for my daughter who luckily was spending the night at grandma's house. Beyond airing out the house is there anything else I should do??
