In order to make a gamete you start with two chromosomes which then go thru interphase and make logous chromosomes. logous chromosomes enter meiosis 1. End result is logous chromosomes are now separated. These two cells now enter meiosis 2. End result is sister chromatid are separated. You have four cells aka gametes with one copy of the chromosome in it.
